250-bed hotel will also include serviced apartments and three hotel operators are on the shortlist to run the high-rise facility in Paddington Village – Accor, Hilton and IHG. Tony McDonough reports
Three hotel operators have been shortlisted for a 250-bed hotel and serviced apartment project planned for Liverpool’s Paddington Village scheme.
Accor, Hilton and IHG are all keen to run the new facility and Liverpool City Council has this week, following a competitive process, appointed Ryder Architects.
Paddington Village is part of the city’s £1bn Knowledge Quarter development (KQ Liverpool) and the latest update was revealed at the Liverpool stand at the MIPIM global property expo in Cannes.

The council will now commence the procurement of the hotel operator and the design of the hotel and will be looking to announce the final hotel consortia in late summer 2018.
KQ Liverpool, a 450-acre urban innovation district, has more than £1bn of new developments underway – and a further £1bn in the pipeline.
Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has approved in principle a £12m grant for infrastructure work to unlock development on Paddington Village scheme. The grant would pay for enabling works, including demolition of existing building and bringing services to the site, on the central 8.4 acres of the 30 acre Paddington Village.
The KQ Liverpool partners are: Liverpool City Council, Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, University of Liverpool, The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust, The Visit Hope Street Community Interest Company and Liverpool Vision.
