Liverpool property consultancy The Momentum Group will help make a new 6,500 sq ft esports gaming venue in the city centre a reality.

Momentum has secured the fit out and delivery contract for Level Tap, which will be located in Hanover Street in Liverpool ONE. It will cater for a wide range of gamers and host a variety of competitive titles from all genres.

Inside the venue will be eight console stations, all containing a Nintendo Switch and either a PS5 or an Xbox Series X, along with two racing simulators and 22 PCs. And it will host and broadcast live events from around the world.

Level Tap founders Callum Wilson and Adam Rydings have also enlisted the help of two other Liverpool businesses with the venue. K2 Architects have designed the new facility while hospitality group Lucky Penny have put together the food menus.

Callum said: “This is our debut venue and it’s vital for us to have the right people with the right experience alongside us to ensure we hit the ground running, glitch free.

“The experience, attention to detail, local knowledge and flexible approach that they are bringing is exactly what we need for this project.”

Level Tap will operate across two levels. The mezzanine level will be where streamers or competing teams play with their gameplay broadcast onto projectors and TVs around the venue, with a lower level arena seating capacity of 100+.

In the lower level alongside gaming booths, will be a bar, dining area and a lounge designed as a ‘decompression and social zone’. This is where gamers can take a break from the screens and intense gaming environment.

Fast-growing The Momentum Group is also overseeing the fit-out of another leisure venue in Liverpool ONE, the £10m Gravity Max in the former Debenhams department store.

Director and co-founder Chris Renshaw said: “The mix of leisure and retail is rapidly evolving and there is a growing demand for more immersive experiences and pursuits.

“Level Tap is at the vanguard, not only in the city but also in the UK, by bringing a dedicated esports venue with food and drink to the high street.

“We are excited to have been appointed to deliver this project and help Level Tap on its way to what we are sure will be a successful addition to the city’s scene.”

Level Tap will be serving a range of specially created gaming-themed cocktails, shakes, seltzers and draught and bottled beer, wine and soft drinks, as well as pizza slices, sides, snacks and sundaes.

Steven Burgess, managing director of Lucky Penny Group, which also operates BoBo on Castle Street and Queen Avenue’s quirky Abditory, said: “Built into everything we do from the start is helping our clients to deliver excellent customer experience.

“In such an environment refreshment has to be quick and easy but without compromising on quality.”
