One of Liverpool’s best known breakfast/brunch brands, Moose Coffee, is to open a new outlet on LIverpool’s waterfront.

Housing group Regenda has let a 1,700 sq ft unit on the ground floor of its recently completed Plaza 1821 development at Princes Dock in Liverpool Waters. The first tenants moved into the 16-storey, £21m building in 2020.

Now Moose will occupy commercial space on the ground floor, offering its signature American and Canadian inspired breakfast dishes throughout the day. Moose and Regenda will also partner on a new training programme for young people, via Regenda subsidiary The Learning Foundry.

Moose Coffee was founded in 2006 by entrepreneur Nick Van Breemen. He opened his first outlet in Crosby but it was his second restaurant, in Dale Street in Liverpool city centre, which really put the brand on the map.

Mr Van Breemen travelled across North America for two years and wanted to bring a genuine breakfast diner experience to the UK. So popular is the Dale Street outlet’s fare of breakfast dishes, waffles, pancakes and sandwiches that people can frequently be seen queuing up in the street waiting for a table.

Moose has a second outlet in the city centre, close to the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in Hope Street and it has also opened restaurants in Manchester and Leeds. Mr Mr Van Breemen said: “It’s fantastic to be expanding the Moose Coffee brand to our new home at Plaza 1821 and to be a part of Liverpool Waters. This is a really exciting opportunity to bring our famous menu to a new neighbourhood in the city.

“We are delighted to launch our educational partnership with The Learning Foundry too, which will offer a programme of on-site accredited training to young people from across Liverpool.”

Plaza 1821 offers 105 apartments and overlooks Princes Dock and the River Mersey. It is managed by Liverpool-based Redwing, a property agency specialising in sales, lettings and block management. Fit-out work on Moose will begin imminently.

Liza Marco, asset manager at Peel L&P’s Liverpool Waters, added: “Our Princes Dock neighbourhood is a thriving community with an ever-increasing number of new residents and businesses calling it home. Moose is a fantastic addition to the amenities at Princes Dock, making it one of the best places in Liverpool to live and work.”
