UK motor trade regulatory body The Motor Ombudsman opens office in Liverpool, creating 17 new jobs. Tony McDonough reports
A regulatory body that focuses on dispute resolution in the UK motor industry has set up a new office in Liverpool.
The Motor Ombudsman (TMO) is creating 17 jobs at its Mann Island base, close to Liverpool waterfront. It is expanding from its London headquarters to meet growing demand for its alternative dispute resolution (ADR) service.
Although independent, the TMO is Government-approved and is focused on dispute resolution and raising standards in areas such as new/used car sales, service/repair, warranties and bodyshops.
Its Liverpool team will work in the case administration and adjudication teams, who will work closely with colleagues in the capital. A growing number of motorists and businesses are using the ADR.
In the first five months of 2026 alone, TMO received 23,499 unique consumer cases – a 22% rise compared with the same period in 2025.
This new hub will also serve as an important gateway for TMO to further reinforce its presence beyond London among consumers and automotive businesses across the northern counties of the UK.
As the organisation continues to grow its profile, the additional hub will play a key role in forging new relationships and supporting closer engagement with existing code-accredited garages, dealerships, vehicle manufacturers and warranty providers.
