Housing maintenance specialist M&Y has won a £750,000 maintenance services contract with Steve Biko Housing Association in Liverpool.

A division of the Liverpool-based Regenda Group, M&Y will carry out repairs on 276 homes comprising family houses, sheltered accommodation and general needs flats. It won the contract via tender.

Steve Biko Housing Association provides housing and housing-related services for black and racial minority communities in Liverpool.

Michael Holmes, M&Y head of external works, said: “To see M&Y being recognised as one of the leading repairs and maintenance contractors in the North West is great.

“We have a strong track record of leaving a positive social impact in the communities we work in, so we’re pleased that we scored highly in areas such as customer care, quality and social value.”

This latest contract win follows another deal in December that will see M&Y deliver works to more than 850 homes for Wirral Methodist Housing Association. That is a three-year £1.3m contract with the option of a two year extension.

It also comes shortly after the family-founded business reported a big rise in annual revenues. Turnover for the 12 months to March 31, 2024, rose 26% to £43.3m. Pre-tax profits were slightly down at £217,000.

During the accounting period the firm employed 246 people and delivered £2.1m in repairs and £5m in new home construction to customers outside of the Regenda Group. Overall in the year the business delivered new homes to the value of £17.5m.

This latest contrast with Steve Biko is for three year with a possible two-year extension. Work will include responsive maintenance, emergency works, major works, void property works, compliance works, cleaning and grounds maintenance.

Tracey Gore, Steve Biko Housing Association director, added: “Our tenants have told us that good repairs and maintenance is a priority for them.

“That’s why Steve Biko Housing Association is looking forward to working with M&Y from February 2025 as they begin delivery of our repairs and maintenance as well as some of our estate-based services such as gardening.”
