New Brighton seaside festival reveals first taster of entertainment programme

The three-day family event will take place over the Spring Bank Holiday (May 27-29). Andrew Wright reports.

Orb Events, based in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle is behind a brand-new attraction for Spring 2017 – the New Brighton Seaside Festival

It will take over a huge space in front of Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton Beach, Marine Lake and Promenade in New Brighton.

The first large scale seaside festival of its kind in the area, the weekender is the brainchild of Liverpool event management company Orb Events, the team behind Liverpool Loves, Liverpool Pride, and Farm Feast.

The festival will host live entertainment, street food, chef demos and family friendly activities.

The team has released the first details of what to expect from this year’s programme.

Saturday will be sound tracked by folk trio Button Street Badger Band and Liverpool group The Ship Builders.

Performing on Sunday and fresh from her record deal with DECCA Records is alt-pop songstress Eleanor Nelly – whereas highlights for Monday’s Main Stage programme include a performance from the Sing Me Merseyside Choir and New Brighton’s Marc Kenny.

Street food traders include Holy Crab, Little Furnace and Camp Halloumi.

There will be a gin garden and an artisan market, and cookery demonstrations by Wirral chefs and brands like Burnt Truffle.

The undercover seating area will be serving local craft beer and cocktails.

A full children’s activity programme will be taking place each day that includes a Vintage Funfair, Punch and Judy style puppet shows, and workshops by Junior Chef’s Academy.

The Festival begins at 10am each day from Saturday, May 27 to Monday, May 29.
