Law firm Fletchers is one of the leading clinical negligence and personal injury practices in the UK and has told LBN it is ‘actively recruiting’ up to 50 staff for its new Liverpool office. Tony McDonough reports
Law firm Fletchers Group is opening a new office in Liverpool’s central business district and is “actively recruiting” up to 50 new staff.
Southport-based Fletchers is one of the UK’s leading clinical negligence and personal injury law firms. It employs around 650 people in offices in Southport, Manchester and, as of February this year, Leeds.
Now it is taking 4,095 sq ft at the Grade II-listed Cotton Exchange building in Liverpool, which is owned and operated by Bruntwood works.
Focusing mainly on clinical negligence the Liverpool base is initially staffed by around 50 of the firm’s existing team members. And Fletchers Group has told LBN it is “actively recruiting” a further 50 to complete the local team.
In October 2021 the firm was acquired by US-based private equity outfit Sun European Partners. Now it has ambitions to pursue an aggressive mergers and acquisitions strategy. In January it appointed M&A specialist Zoe Holland as chief commercial officer.
Alex Lynch, chief financial officer at Fletchers, said: “The decision to open an office in Liverpool was the next logical step for the business and further underlines our intent to be the market leader in the region.
“Having a growing network of offices means we are better able to attract the very best talent, as well as support the needs of our clients, regardless of where they are based.
“It gives our people a workplace they feel proud to be part of and enables the group to accelerate growth, both organically and through strategic acquisitions.”
Its Cotton Exchange office retains many of its original features such as wooden and marble floors, old granite columns and ironwork beams. The building offers a roof terrace, event and conference space, and cycle storage.
Tim Moulton, co-head of clinical negligence will lead the Liverpool team. He added: “Investing in first-class, modern facilities for our people is a clear indication of our continued commitment to the region.
“Our office in Cotton Exchange will give our Liverpool-based colleagues a comfortable, modern, and creative space in which to work, collaborate and excel in. It will enable us to tap into the exceptional talent pool available across Liverpool and beyond.”
