A November to remember at St Helens Theatre Royal

St Helens Theatre Royal is serving up an antidote to the Winter blues with a November programme packed full of entertainment.

Opening the month is riotous new comedy The Ruby Slippers for one night only on 3rd November. Set in a Blackpool drag club where not everything is as it seems, the critically acclaimed show explores love, friendship and identity, taking audiences on a rollercoaster of emotions. The performance comes to St Helens following a sell-out run in Liverpool and guarantees to dazzle audiences.

Dig out your dancing shoes on the 4th November for Nights On Broadway, The Story of the Bee Gees. The tribute to the famous brothers boasts a full live band taking audiences on a journey through the extensive back catalogue of the band for a night to remember which is sure to have you dancing in the aisles.

Singing sensation Joe McElderry comes to St Helens on 5th November with his Northern Lights Tour.  Following a successful run as Joseph in the UK tour of Bill Kenwright’s production, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Joe is embarking upon his own tour, with a stripped back acoustic show incorporating his original songs as well as all of the audience favourites.

On 17th November the Derek Acorah Soul Reunion Tour 2016 comes to St Helen’s. Derek Acorah is a household name and one of the foremost names in the world of Psychic Phenomena. Derek is a thoroughly modern medium whose appeal crosses the generations to young and old alike and he remains the forerunner in the field of paranormal and spiritual matters.

The hugely successful stage play version of Helen Forrester’s Twopence To Cross The Mersey returns to St Helen’s from the 7th to 12th November. This much loved play tells the true story of a young girl and her formerly wealthy family as they are suddenly thrown into poverty during the Great Depression. Leaving behind their comfortable middle-class life in the South, they move to Liverpool to rebuild their dreams. But, they are in for a terrible shock. Loved by millions, see Helen’s dramatic, moving and heart-warming tale come to life.

Rounding up the November offerings is the return of 80s cult classic Rita, Sue and Bob Too! Running from 22nd to 26th November the hilarious play boasts an all-star cast led by Darren Day as Bob alongside his real life wife Emmerdale star Stephanie Dooley as Michelle. The cast also includes Benidorm’s Chrissy Rock as mum, Dougie Brown (The Comedians & Coronation Street) as Dad, Emily Fleeshman (Open All Hours) as Rita and Olivia Sloyan(Blood Brothers) as Sue.

Chantelle Nolan, Theatre Manager said:

“Our November line up is looking great, we’re looking forward to welcoming audiences for what is guaranteed to be a month of fantastic entertainment!”
