Liverpool Pan-Asian restaurant HOST has closed its doors to diners after 11 years in Hope Street but is set to continue at various pop-up locations around the city.

An as yet unnamed restaurant operator will move into the Hope Street premises vacated by HOST in the next few months after the owners of the venue sold the lease.

The brand was founded by well known Liverpool restaurateurs, brothers Colin and Gary Manning, and is part of their 60 Hope Street Group, which also operates 60 Hope Street and The Quarter close by in Falkner Street.

HOST was opened in November 2008 with a 1950s-inspired dining environment and its dishes are influenced by Thai, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine. In a statement, the owners said: “There are continuously emerging opportunities in what is still a burgeoning marketplace for wining, dining and entertainment in Liverpool.

“As the food and drink scene evolves we are looking to enhance HOST, further widening the brand’s appeal and its many unique selling points. To do so, we’re taking advantage of the saleability of the brand on Hope Street and look forward to sharing HOST’s latest move in the market very soon.”

Nick Huddleston from CBRE’s specialist markets team acted for HOST, and said: “The Georgian Quarter continues to evolve as Liverpool’s premium bar, restaurant and leisure district with Hope Street in particular, offering some fantastic independent venues.”
