The popular Disney story will be brought to life on stage from tomorrow (Thursday 8 December), featuring a cast headed by Liverpool’s own Natasha Hamilton. Andrew Wright reports.
LHK Productions, which was established in 2005 and previously worked with companies in Dubai and Lebanon as well as the UK, brings its production of Aladdin to Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre until Sunday, January 8.
Kids and adults alike will be invited along for the (carpet) ride over the coming festive season with a cast including former Atomic Kitten Natasha Hamilton and reality stars Jordan Davies and Mark Byron.
Natasha, who has previously tread the boards in Blood Brothers, is playing Princess Jasmine, with X Factor 2007 finalist Sean Smith playing the titular role of Aladdin.
Ex on the Beach star Jordan Davies is the Genie in the Lamp while local lad and Big Brother 2014 contestant Mark Byron is the Slave of the Ring.
Following a successful Easter panto rendition of Snow White, and last year’s festive production of Cinderella, LHK is promising “stunning scenery, slapstick comedy, sparkling costumes and plenty of glamour provided by the galaxy of stars”.
Producer Lee Kelly said: “We are well under way with rehearsals and it is looking amazing.
“The cast are incredible and all having a great time – they are working tirelessly to ensure everything is perfect, and everyone is super excited to open next week and entertain audiences of Liverpool over the festive period.
“We always want to ensure our productions have the wow factor to give audiences a show that they will remember, especially for the kids as panto is all about giving them a magical experience. As ever we have lots of treats and surprises in store, and it is set to be our biggest and best show yet.”
Aladdin runs from Thursday, December 8, to Sunday, January 8.
