Popular South Liverpool golf club Allerton Manor unveils new look

Allerton Manor Golf Club reopened yesterday, Saturday, April 29, following unprecedented investment in its unique ‘Pay and Play’ course.

Formerly Allerton Park, the well-visited 18-hole golf course has undergone a dramatic transformation after 6 months of course improvement works.

The extensive upgrade comes after Allerton Golf Trading Ltd were appointed as operating partner at the club by Liverpool City Council last year.

Allerton Golf Trading Ltd are the former operators of similarly popular Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa, and have invested significant sums of money into the club’s refurbishment, bringing back to life a club that it would be fair to say had seen better days.

PGA affiliated Golf Architects were brought on to lead the refurb – the company boast a résumé that comprises a number of first rate golf courses around the world, including renowned golfing centres in Dubai, USA and Asia.

Allerton Manor is the first municipal Pay & Play golf course in the UK to undergo this level of refurbishment. Yesterday, the first phase of work was unveiled, which revealed new elevated championship tees, reshaping of fairways and revetted bunkers installed around the course.

Visitors to the course will also benefit from a brand new Halfway House and terrace behind the 8th Green, complete with a telephone for convenient pre-ordering.

The fit and finish at Allerton Manor means that Pay and Play golfers can now experience a quality of play usually reserved for private members’ Links-style courses.

The course greens and fairways have been expertly contoured and the club have invested in state-of-the-art greenkeeping machinery to keep it looking its best.

Golf Manager and PGA professional, Bryan Joelson-Mulhall, who joined the club recently from Eccleston Park, says: “The upgrades that have taken place at Allerton Manor are the kind that you would usually expect on a European Championship course.

“We have brought these changes to Allerton Manor to create a challenging test for a new generation of golfers, pairing them with totally refurbished clubhouse facilities to create a high-end, resort-like feel in the heart of South Liverpool, whilst remaining totally accessible to the general-public.”

Allerton Manor representatives say that the club will offer competitive pricing, options for people of all ages and abilities, flock to enjoy the new and improved holes and an attractive food and drink offer at The Old Stables Restaurant.
