Quills Coffee wins Baltic Creative competition

Quills Coffee, located in the Rex concept store (in the former George Henry Lee building), were awarded the £500 prize as part of a “Dragons’ Den” event run by Liverpool’s Baltic Creative.

Competitors vied for the prize by stating their case as to how the grant would improve their start-up and small business ventures to a panel of business experts.

Lee Wainwright, founder of Quills, made his pitch at the Liverpool #LockIn networking event.

Event organiser representative, Annie O’Toole of Juxdit, said:

“Quills is an asset to Liverpool, not just because it’s a fantastic brand with a great product, but because of the entrepreneur behind it – Lee.

“His ambition is inspirational and the opportunity to support somebody like him through the #Lockin event was amazing.”

Quills Coffee opened in October 2014, and the £500 grant will be used to develop and launch a new business website this year, which will give the business the ability to work on an e-commerce site that sells coffee and custom crockery around the world.

Quills founder, Lee Wainwright said:

“I can visit five businesses in one hit. Baltic Creative is like a one-stop shop for Quills Coffee’s business needs.

“By housing so many creative and digital business together, Baltic Creative has provided a platform for introverts and extroverts alike to get talking and collaborate on projects.”

Established in 2009, Baltic Creative CIC aims to provide creative space for the creative and digital sector within the Baltic Triangle.
