Quilter Cheviot Liverpool chief promoted to Head of Regional Offices

The Head of the Liverpool office of discretionary investment management firm Quilter Cheviot has been put in charge of the company’s network of offices across the UK.

Richard Thorn’s appointment as Head of Regional Offices means the Liverpool office’s Executive Director, Simon Walker, becomes Head of Office for Liverpool.

The changes are part of a series of executive-level promotions and new roles announced by Quilter Cheviot*, five months after the firm was acquired by the leading wealth management firm Old Mutual Wealth.

The executive team restructure will ensure the firm continues to grow its presence in both the domestic and global markets. In his new role as Head of Regional Offices, Richard Thorn will take responsibility for overseeing Quilter Cheviot’s 11 regional offices across the UK, and in Dublin, Ireland.

He has been Head of the firm’s Liverpool office since 2006, managing the 26 strong team from its base in St Paul’s Square.

Richard began his career in 1985, moving to Ashton Tod McLaren the following year before becoming part of the same group as Quilter Goodison in 1988. A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, Richard manages investment portfolios for private clients, trusts and professional intermediaries across the North West. He serves on the company’s Charities Committee and is a trustee of the Quilter Cheviot Foundation and other charitable organisations.

Simon Walker was previously Head of the Office for Cheviot Asset Management in Liverpool before the company’s merger with Quilter. He was previously a senior investment director with Deutsche Bank.

Quilter Cheviot operates across 12 locations in the UK, Ireland and the Channel Islands. The firm has £17.2 billion of funds under management. FTSE 100 company Old Mutual Wealth has c. £100 billion of private clients’ funds under management.
