“Race for Life – Pretty Muddy” comes to Liverpool

Women from across Liverpool are showing that they aren’t stick-in-the-muds when it comes to fighting cancer by signing up for Cancer Research UK’s new Race for Life campaign “Pretty Muddy”.

Liverpool has been chosen as one of only three cities across the North West to host Pretty Muddy, with the women-only, non-competitive 5k obstacle course taking place at Sefton Park on 4 July 2015. The twist? All obstacles come with extra mud!

Women from Liverpool are signing up for Pretty Muddy in anticipation of an active summer, in addition to other standard Race for Life family events like the 5k and 10k race courses, which will themselves see thousands of fundraising participants also run around Sefton Park on July 5.

All Race for Life events give women the opportunity to raise money for Cancer Research UK and get one step closer to eradicating cancer and many are already signing up.

Race for Life, held in partnership with Tesco, offers inspirational women-only events and raises millions of pounds each year to combat more than 200 types of cancer. The funds raised through Race for Life means that Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses, and scientists can advance medical research that has already saved the lives of men, women, and children from across the North West region.

Cancer Research UK’s Liverpool Event Manager, Jennifer Ward, said:

“We’re so excited about launching Race for Life Pretty Muddy in Liverpool. The event is taking place in the city for the first time and we’re calling on local ladies to sign up now. We’ve no doubt that they’ve got the fighting spirit to get down and dirty in the bid to beat cancer sooner.

“Pretty Muddy promises all the fun and camaraderie of our much loved 5k and 10k events – just with an extra serving of mud.

“Race for Life events are not competitive. They are not about being fit or fast. Women can complete the Pretty Muddy course at their own pace, climbing, jumping, walking and laughing their way around. It’s about an army of women coming together in the fight against cancer.

“If you’re looking for an opportunity to get the New Year off to good start, this is the time to commit to Race for Life. With fire in their bellies and trainers at the ready, we know that Liverpool ladies are up for the challenge.

“We’re calling on the brave ladies of Liverpool to pull on their leggings and take on cancer at this year’s event.

“Race for Life is to celebrate those who are with us, and also remember those who are not. The atmosphere is electric, our participants are so inspiring and we’re calling on the women of Liverpool to help make 2015 our best year yet.”

Women who want to enter any of the Race for Life events should go to raceforlife.org or call 0300 123 0770.
