Record year for 2015 Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards

Next week’s Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards promises to be the most successful to date.

With a sell-out audience and a record number of entrants, the city’s famous St George’s Hall will welcome the best the region has to offer.

This year has witnessed an incredible levels of entries across all categories – almost triple the number compared to last year.

And for the People’s Choice Award – which recognises businesses which have given outstanding service to an individual – there have been almost 1,400 entrants, compared to 104 last year. These have been reduced to a shortlist of four including; Giant Spectacular, The Beatles Fab Four Taxi Tour, the Cavern Club and Shiverpool.

The event will also reward individuals who have helped raise the profile of the city in its Tourism Ambassador category. Nominated individuals include Jackie Crawford (Culture Liverpool), Kerrin MacPhie (ACC Liverpool) and Phillip Prescott (Liverpool ONE).

Cathryn O’Grady, managing director of event organiser Eventful, said:

“This year really does promise to be the best to date. We are very excited at the number of entries which we have received.

“The people of Liverpool are so passionate about their city and this is a great example of them recognising the outstanding businesses and individuals who have made a real difference.

“This is the one time every year when we reward those people and give something back to the industry.”

Headline sponsor for this year’s awards is ticket provider, WebTicketManager.

Peter Rosenfeld, director and co-founder of WebTicketManager, added:

“To be involved with this year’s Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards is a great honour. It has been a wonderful year for tourism in the city and being a sponsor gives us the opportunity to meet these true Liverpool ambassadors. I want to pass on my luck to all the nominees.

“We have witnessed first-hand the impact that tourism can have on a city. The amazing reinvention of the city since the Capital of Culture in 2008 with high levels of tourists, both domestic and international, is testament to this. The city is a magnet for tourists; from its unforgettable landscape and architecture to the endearing and charming personalities of its residents.”

The glamorous black-tie event will be hosted by actor and comedian Neil Fitzmaurice.
