Following 2014’s sold out smash hit Easter Panto, Snow White and hot off the heels of last year’s successful Christmas extravaganza Jack and the Beanstalk, Regal Entertainment are proud to present the most spellbinding tale of them all – Sleeping Beauty.
Running this spring half term from Friday 3rd April – Sunday 12th April at St Helens Theatre Royal, you can expect a series of magic, glitz, glamour, suspense and humour – all the ingredients that have helped to keep the Theatre Royal’s past seasonal shows so successful.
Regal Entertainment are thrilled to announce that the voice of Radio City 96.7, Leanne Campbell will be returning to the stage, getting transformed into the evil fairy Carabosse, who casts a curse on Princess Aurora, tricking her into an eternal slumber. Leanne has plenty of experience on the stage, having performed in the leading role as Cinderella in the Theatre Royal’s 2012 production, and most recently she became the beautiful Princess Jasmine alongside Ray Quinn in Aladdin at the Liverpool Empire. Leanne has even bagged a Daily Post Art Award for Best New Talent and a Scouseology Award for Top Theatre Personality, so we’re confident that she is going to captivate the audience as she takes on her latest role.
Alongside Leanne is another member of the Radio City 96.7 team, the returning Claire Simmo who is back after winning the audience over as the stunning Fairy Liquid in Snow White and Fairy Vegetable in Jack and the Beanstalk.
Joining Leanne and Claire is another Theatre Royal favourite; the hilarious Liam Mellor brings more mischief and madness after his side-splitting performance as Simple Simon in last Christmas’ Jack and the Beanstalk. Completing the line-up and ready to bring this enchanting tale to life is St Helens’ resident Dame, Simon Foster, bringing his slapstick fun and chaos to the stage.
Sleeping Beauty tells the enchanting tale of Princess Aurora, who is cursed by the evil fairy Carabosse after failing to receive an invite to the Royal Christening, claiming that if the Princess pricks her finger, she will die. Years later at her 16th birthday, Aurora is tricked into piercing her finger on a spinning wheel by the evil fairy. After the curse is countered by the Lilac Fairy, Aurora instead falls into a deep and eternal slumber, which can only be broken by a kiss from her true love.
Will the beautiful princess find her true love and be freed from the evil fairy’s curse? What fate awaits the evil fairy? Set your alarms and get down to St. Helens Theatre Royal this Easter for a truly magical adventure.
