‘Responder’ building sees 12,000 sq ft letting

An office building featured in the hit BBC TV drama The Responder has been let to drug and alcohol support charity Change, Grow, Live in one of Merseyside’s biggest deals so far this year. Tony McDonough reports

National health and social care charity Change, Grow, Live (CGL) is the new occupier of a 12,000 sq ft office building in Merseyside.

Asset management company Prime Property Consultancy, with the help of agents at Keppie Massie and B8RE, has secured what is one of the biggest lettings in Merseyside so far this year at The Greenhouse in Bridle Way, Bootle.

Located on the corner of Bridle Road in a popular industrial estate, the building featured in the hit drama, which starred The Office and The Hobbit star Martin Freeman and was written by Liverpool writer Tony Schumacher. It was based on Tony’s 12 years as an officer with Merseyside Police.

Freeman’s character in the show, who played a police ‘first responder’ attended therapy sessions throughout the five-part series which were filmed in the oak-panelled boardroom in The Greenhouse.

Tim Garnett, head of commercial agency at Keppie Massie, said: “This is one of the largest lettings in north Liverpool for many years and it reflects the growing demand that we have begun to see among larger occupiers. 

“There is an increasingly strong pipeline of new occupier requirements, and this is an encouraging sign as we navigate through a recovering market.”

CGL offers support and information for individuals on issues such as alcohol and drug dependency. It was founded by a group of magistrates in Sussex in 1977 who saw that people with drug and alcohol issues who were sent to prison, would too often re-offend because there was no support when they came out. It now works across the UK.

Imran Younus, commercial director at Prime Property, added: “The building is an excellent location and offers a great deal of potential to its new occupiers. This deal is the culmination of a huge amount of hard work and insight across the wider agency team and we look forward to welcoming CGL to the building.”
