SME funding specialist River Capital unveils new recruits just weeks after rebranding and moving to a new Liverpool city centre home. Tony McDonough reports
River Capital is unveiling a number of new hires and a promotion following its rebrand and relocation in Liverpool city centre.
A subsidiary of MSIF, River Capital was formerly called Alliance Fund Managers. Since 2002 has supported more than 2,000 Liverpool city region businesses with loan and equity investments totalling £163m.
In September it left the offices it shared with MSIF in Exchange Court close to Liverpool Town Hall. Now it has set up a separate base in The Plaza at nearby St Paul’s Square.
Now as part of a shake-up of its team it has promoted David Walters to the role of investment director in the venture team. He will focus on River Capital’s growing data and artificial intelligence offerings.
A chief technology officer by background and member of the Data IQ Top 100, David has extensive operational and management knowledge developed in roles leading data and AI practices.
Ethan Dent is the latest addition to the team, joining as marketing manager. With several years of experience across various industries, he will lead the day-to-day marketing and promotional activity of River Capital.
He joins other recent recruits Jonathan Newton and Sarah Moss. Having relocated from Leeds, Jonathan joins as an investment manager in the private equity team. An accountant by profession, his most recent experience was as an associate director in Mazars corporate finance team.
New head of finance, Sarah, offers experience in financial management, having held several senior roles at ISS Facility Services UK. Most recently she was divisional finance director of its £400m healthcare sector.
River Capital chief executive Mark Borzomato said: “Recruiting and investing in our people is key as we look to grow our business and further support our clients and SMEs across the region.
