Rolling-pins out for Delifonseca’s new Baking Cookbook Club

Following the success of its monthly Cookbook Club, Fonseca’s Stanley Street has created a new foodie event for baking enthusiasts.

Baking Cookbook Club, which will take place on the third Tuesday of each month, gives guests an opportunity to sample each other’s homemade sweet and savoury dishes, whilst discussing the merits of the food.

This month’s instalment on Tuesday, April 21 will review Mary Berry’s Baking Bible for the 21st Century – whereby food-lovers will bring along their homemade goods that have been pre-selected from the book.

Throughout the evening, guests will also be encouraged to share their thoughts on the book, which provides over 250 classic quintessentially British recipes devised by the ‘Baking Queen’ herself.

Proprietor Candice Fonseca said:

“As our original Cookbook Club has continued to receive such a great response from our guests, it felt only right to introduce a baking version.

“As a nation we really can’t seem to get enough of baking, and with that in mind, our Baking Cookbook Club offers a platform for baking novices and experts alike to try out new recipes and then share their experiences with new acquaintances who have a shared passion.

“This month we will explore Mary Berry’s definitive collection of classic British recipes that claim to be ‘fool-proof’. From signature Victoria sponge to nostalgic bread and butter pudding, the Baking Bible contains a great range of timeless recipes that will no doubt go down a treat amongst the book reviewers.”

The Delifonseca Baking Cookbook Club has its own Facebook group and Meet Up page, which allow members to sign up and select a dish that they would like to bake at home to avoid duplication. Also, a hard copy of the book is always available at Fonseca’s for guests to browse through.

Candice added:

“The Baking Cookbook Club is a great social opportunity for our guests to have a good time with people who have a shared interest in baking, whilst broadening their overall culinary knowledge and skill set.

“We hope that the forthcoming event will be both inspiration and enjoyable for everyone that attends.”

This month’s Baking Cookbook Club will take place in the ‘Downstairs’ bar at Fonseca’s Stanley Street on Tuesday, April 21 from 6:30pm and is priced at £5 per person.
