Frances Williams opened her first beauty salon in Liverpool in 2006 and now her laser skincare business is set to expand with a new ‘super salon’. Tony McDonough reports
Skincare entrepreneur Frances Williams is to open a new ‘super salon’ in Liverpool after 16 years in business.
In 2006 Frances, from Maghull, opened The Place for Beauty offering nail treatments. Now her business is called Skin Survival and is based in Honeys Green Lane in West Derby. It offers full body laser hair removal, laser tattoo removal, laser facial treatments and advanced skin treatments.
She and her seven-strong team are now set to relocate to Eaton Road, not too far away from their current homes. Frances originally studied Beauty Level 2 and 3, before going on to get her qualification to teach beauty and nails, Laser Level 4 and Level 5 tattoo removal.
In the early days The Place for Beauty offered nail treatments. Frances explained: “I’d sit at my nail desk for 10-12 hours a day and I absolutely loved it. It’s been such a journey so far.
“I started off with a much smaller salon and grew to having five members of staff in just three years who focused on nails and hair but in 2013, we moved to a bigger salon.

“In 2016, I began offering laser hair removal treatments with one machine. Our bookings went through the roof and we now have five machines and seven members of staff that offer laser hair removal and laser skin treatments.
Fran will open her new clinic later this year. It will house advanced technology in lasers and skincare and will span across three floors. They will include luxury treatment rooms and a training school for VTCT laser and skin rejuvenation students.
She added: “Laser hair removal is revolutionary. It allows anyone to get rid of leg, underarm, bikini or facial hair for good after a course, with the exception of yearly top ups.
“Over the last 16 years, I’ve seen trends change and crazes come and go, but each year we’ve always got busier as more and more people want to invest in being hair-free long term.”
