Local cancer charity Liverpool Sunflowers is hosting a sponsored skydive to help raise money for local cancer sufferers.
The skydiving fundraiser event is due to take place on Saturday 18th October, and the charity is now appealing for ten brave volunteers to join the challenge alongside the Sunflowers team.
The two highest fundraisers in the Sunflowers skydive team are also being offered a once- in-a-lifetime chance to be flown from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to the skydive site on a private plane, courtesy of one of the charity’s supporters.
Joan Elmer, Chief Executive Officer at Liverpool Sunflowers explains:
“Our skydive fundraiser event is a fantastic opportunity for any thrill seekers out there to enjoy the experience of a lifetime, whilst showing their support for local people living with cancer at the same time.
“All funds raised from this event will be directly invested into the ongoing work of Liverpool Sunflowers, which relies entirely on fundraising, donations and volunteers to keep delivering its vital support to cancer sufferers in our local communities.”
Liverpool Sunflowers provides a unique support service to local individuals and families affected by a cancer diagnosis in the Merseyside region, including free professional advice, counselling, alternative therapies and group support sessions for both patients and carers.
Tony Erskine, a local business owner and Trustee for the charity is amongst those one already signed up to take the leap for Liverpool Sunflower.
He adds:
“As well as raising money for Sunflowers which is an incredible local cancer support charity, some of our team will also be dedicating the jump to family members or friends currently battling cancer, or in memory of those who have been lost to the illness.
“And we would encourage anyone else who feels motivated about helping to beat cancer, to join us for this fundraising adventure.”
To take part in this sponsored skydive for Liverpool Sunflowers you will need to commit to raising a minimum of £350 for the charity, £70 of which, will need to be paid as a deposit when you sign up, to cover your jump costs and training.
The deadline for signing up is 31 July.
