Snow Queen set to visit Palm House as part of festive events programme

Sefton Park Palm House is set to welcome a captivating performance of the classic fairy tale The Snow Queen this festive season.

On December 12th, the Grade II* listed glasshouse will be transformed into a snowy mountain backdrop as Pic’n’Mix Theatre tells the story of the traditional Hans Christian Andersen classic, with the help of a cast filled with interesting and exciting characters.

Director of Sefton Park Palm House Moira Leonard said:

“We are thrilled to welcome back Pic’n’Mix Theatre to our venue following its successful production of Grimm Tales during the summer. They use performing arts as a tool for holistic learning so not only is it a great opportunity to have fun and enjoy the show; it’s also a great learning experience for children.

“The performance itself is exciting and energetic and is suitable for the whole family, featuring live music and dancing that is perfect to get our guests into the festive spirit. On the day, we’ll be hosting two showings of The Snow Queen due to high demand.”

Throughout December, Sefton Park Palm House will also set the stage for an eclectic calendar of entertainment with highlights including Christmas Salsa Under the Palms, Carol Concerts and festive Musical Memories.

Moira added:

“We’re so excited to present our Christmas catalogue of events at the Palm House. There’s certainly something for everybody throughout the month of December, whether our guests want to enjoy time-honoured Christmas songs at Musical Memories or learn to dance ahead of the festive parties at Christmas Salsa Under the Palms.

“The Royal Liverpool Hospital Choir will also be joining us to perform a duo of Carol Concerts, in which guests can relax and enjoy carols at their best – under candlelight with a glass of mulled wine and a minced pie. Our offerings are certainly a great way to get into the yuletide mood.”

The Snow Queen will take place at Sefton Park Palm House on Saturday December 12 at 11am and 2pm with doors opening at 10.30am and 1.30pm respectively. Tickets cost £5 and refreshments will be on sale.
