Software engineering venture Ultamation more than doubles its office space in a major expansion at Liverpool Science Park. Tony McDonough reports
A software engineering firm has moved to a new office suite at Liverpool Science Park (LSP), more than doubling its footprint.
And this will be the fourth time Ultamation has moved within LSP. This latest expansion takes the size of its office from 800 sq ft to 2,000 sq ft as the firm gears up for further growth.
LSP operator Sciontec says this latest deal means occupancy at the facility is now at 92% reinforcing the need for more office and laboratory space within the Knowledge Quarter Liverpool innovation district.
Ultamation first set up shop at LSP, which is located right next to the city’s Metropolitan Cathedral, in 2010. Led by husband and wife team, Oliver and Emma Hall, the firm specialises software products for the home automation and audio-video industries.
Its newly refurbished space, The Garden Suite in iC2, comes complete with a private integrated kitchen, breakout areas and superfast internet connectivity, as well as views over the cathedral.
Oliver Hall said: “Our journey as a business has been closely aligned with and supported by our experience of Liverpool Science Park.
“It’s an excellent location for us to collaborate with peers, attract the brightest talent and tap into the wider innovation ecosystem within Knowledge Quarter Liverpool.
“Our move to The Garden Suite will help to elevate us even further and we are excited to see what the future holds.”
Emma Hall added: “LSP’s close proximity to the University of Liverpool campus is also a major advantage, allowing us to build a strong partnership that includes guest lectures and hosting student hackathons, as well as recruiting from their graduate talent pool.”
Other recent moves at LSP include new tenant, PlantSea, which creates regenerative biomaterials and sustainable alternatives to plastic, and MF Architecture, which has expanded from its smaller office space in iC1 to a larger space at iC2.

Leanne Katsande, head of commercial at Sciontec, also said: “Oliver and Emma have created a thriving business at Ultamation and we are delighted that they have chosen to continue their journey with us at Liverpool Science Park.
“We work hard to find the right grow-on spaces for our customers and The Garden Suite is a perfect fit for this next chapter.”
