Organisers of a North West TEDx event taking place this summer are looking for Liverpool city region entrepreneurs to join the list of speakers.

TEDx is a non-profit organisation set up in California 30 years ago as a way of spreading new ideas in addresses lasting 18 minutes or less. Speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Sir Richard Branson and Everyday Sexism founder Laura Bates.

On June 23 this year the spotlight will shine on Pyramid Parr Hall as the stage is set for Warrington’s inaugural TEDx event. Speakers from across the region are being given the opportunity to share their inspirational concept.

The event was originally supposed to take place two years ago but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the delay the organisers have added two new categories and opened the application process again.

Warrington organiser and licensee Kirsty James said: “TEDx offers a world-renowned speaker platform as each presentation is watched by hundreds, if not thousands of people. It’s a really positive platform to share ideas and inspire others.

“The overall theme for Warrington’s TEDx is Build Connection, Strengthen Communities, and it’s fair to say that over the last two years we’ve witnessed innumerable great examples of such acts so we have decided to add two new categories to the application process – Diversity and Inclusion and Embracing Change.”

Kirsty says these new categories will take account of the changed circumstances and stories that the world – and the North West – has experienced. She added: “The one thing I would say is that if you have an idea but are nervous, don’t worry – we have a speaker programme in place to support you leading up to the day.”

Kirsty is a networking, relationship-marketing and communications consultant who uses “the power of networking and conversation to enable personal and business growth and community engagement”.

Applications for the two new categories opened on Friday, January 7, and will close at noon on Wednesday, February 9. Click here for more details and to apply.
