Specialist space consultancy ESR delivers training course to Polish audience

Warrington-based ESR Technology offers expertise in tribology, the science and engineering of interacting surfaces in relative motion, often used in space exploration

ESR Technology delivered its training course to a audience in Warsaw

North West space consultancy ESR Technology has returned from Poland after delivering a training course in Warsaw.

ESTL, or the European Space Tribology Laboratory, which is part of ESR, has previously presented its technically detailed course across Europe, including in Austria, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain and the UK over the last decade.

The course has also been presented in the USA, at Cleveland Ohio and to NASA in Greenbelt near Washington. Poland is the latest delivery destination.

Tribology is the science and engineering of interacting surfaces in relative motion. Warrington-based ESR also hosts the National Centre of Tribology (NCT), as well as ESTL. ESTL and NCT have developed Tribology solutions that enable machinery to operate and move in Space.

Their pioneering work has been deployed on the Hubble Space Telescope, Rosetta and BepiColombo.

A record 69 delegates attended the two-day course in Warsaw, from five countries, (Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia), representing 30 different organisations. A representative from The European Space Agency, who provided the funding for the course, also attended.

Simon Griffin, business director space & CMO, ESR Technology said: “This was another highly successful training course that ESTL delivered. There was a great atmosphere at the event with the multinational attendees providing enthusiastic feedback and participation.”
