St Johns welcomes six new tenants as it reopens

Opened in 1969, St Johns Shopping Centre is home to more than 100 tenants and saw sales grow more than £10m in 2019 – now it has welcomed six new tenants as it reopens after lockdown. Tony McDonough reports

Liverpool’s St Johns Shopping Centre has secured six new tenants as it reopens following the ending of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Be Regal, Citrus Cosmetics, Shout, VR Liverpool, American Candy and Boom Battle Bar have all signed up for space at St John’s which opened in 1969 and is home to more than 100 businesses. It has continued attract shoppers despite the opening of Liverpool ONE in 2008.

Its retailer enjoyed significant growth in 2019, seeing sales grow by more than £10m. The centre was expecting more growth in 2020 when the pandemic hit. It has now endured three lockdown but with non-essential retail opening back up this week, St John’s is anticipating more growth.

General manager at St Johns Shopping, Neil Ashcroft, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming our shoppers back this week, especially with so many new additions to St Johns, each offering something new and fresh for our loyal customer base. 

“St Johns started 2020 in a great position, with sales growing by over £10m in 2019. Despite the challenges we have all faced in the last year, we continue to both support our existing retailers and strive to attract new, exciting stores to the centre. 

“Our constant focus on community and customer service has been rewarded with commercial success and industry recognition, as we saw the centre win two of the retail industry’s most coveted awards in 2020 – the Revo ACE Community award and the Revo ACE Customer Service award.”
