Peel Ports is teaming up with Chane at the Port of Liverpool

One of Europe’s largest liquid bulk storage operators Chane is to expand its operations at the Port of Liverpool.

Chane will team up with port owner Peel Ports to add capacity to its existing terminal on the Mersey. This initiative is designed to capitalise on growing demand for bulk liquid products.

This expansion will see Chane open up the range and types of liquids the group can handle. The pair will work together to jointly target new and existing importers and exporters as they seek to grow liquid bulk cargoes through their collective networks.

The partnership will focus on strengthening commercial outreach across key industrial sectors, supporting increased volumes of liquid bulk products.

Andrew Shaw, terminal manager at Chane, said: “Partnering with Peel Ports Group will allow us to build on our strong presence at the Port of Liverpool and extend our reach across its wider port network.

“By combining our specialist expertise with Peel Ports’ extensive infrastructure and strategic locations, we are well positioned to support even more customers with safe, efficient and scalable liquid bulk solutions.”

The agreement comes at a time of sustained demand growth in liquid bulk commodities, driven by changing energy requirements, increased biofuel adoption, and continued reliance on specialist chemical and food-grade logistics.

On Monday LBN reported that another bulk liquids specialist, UM Terminals, had paid its Belfast-based owners £3m in dividends after seeing a rise in annual revenues from its Liverpool, Hull and Bristol operations.

Phil Hall, port director at the Port of Liverpool, added: “Liquid bulk is becoming an increasingly important aspect of our cargo offering at the Port of Liverpool.

“This new partnership with Chane will strengthen our ability to support customers across multiple high-growth sectors.”
