TJ Morris, the discount retailer that trades as Home Bargains, has put forward a planning application to create a warehouse, vehicle maintenance unit, gym and sports facility at its Liverpool base.
More than eight acres have been earmarked for the scheme at a vacant site on Axis Business Park between its recently completed warehouse and an embankment by the River Alt on a site previously managed by United Utilities.
It is planned for the warehouse and vehicle maintenance unit to operate round the clock, 24/7. The gym and sports facility, which will be open to TJ Morris employees and their friends and families, would be open from 7am to 12am every day.
Architecture and development consultancy AJA Architects submitted the design and access statement as part of a detailed planning application to Liverpool City Council, saying:
“The scheme provides for the development of a site which has remained vacant for a number of years to meet TJ Morris’ requirements to support their continued expansion and provide gym and sports facilities for staff.”
