Top Italian wine maker to host evening at Delifonseca Dockside

Delifonseca Dockside is set to host an exclusive wine tasting evening in collaboration with one of Italy’s finest wineries, Tenuta Argentiera.

On Wednesday October 14th, Jeanette Servidio export manager of the winery will descend on the award-winning eatery to showcase a range of its premium wines, including the brand’s flagship product, Argentiera DOC Bolgheri Superior.

Guests will have a rare opportunity to hear first-hand from one of Italy’s finest vineyards whilst enjoying their wines with paired food courses devised by long term wine lover head chef Martin Cooper.

Proprietor of Delifonseca Candice Fonseca said:

“It’s quite a coup for us to welcome Jeanette of Tenuta Argentiera to Delifonseca Dockside. They are a small but highly regarded small producer and one their flagship wine is often listed on restaurant menus at around £100 per bottle! To have a wine-maker of this calibre available to talk with us and our customers is a real privilege and when it was offered to us we felt it was an opportunity not to be missed. She will talk about the vineyard, the wine and be available to take questions from our guests and us!

“The winery itself is located in the small but highly regarded DOC Bolgheri area of Italy, and due to its impressive skills in wine-making, it consistently produces products that continue to score highly with the world’s most esteemed critics including James Sucklnig, Flastaff and Robert Parker. It is wonderful that we can host events of such pedigree from around the globe to Liverpool.”

To start, the restaurant will be serving up fillet of brill with white bean and parsley salad and citrus dressed cucumber – paired perfectly with Poggio ai Ginepri IGT Toscana Bianco 2014, followed by a main course of slow braised ox cheek with sautéed venison, button mushrooms, creamy mash and kale – accompanied by Villa Donoratico DOC Bolgheri 2012.

To finish, diners will enjoy a platter of artisan cheeses, complemented impeccably by the winery’s signature offering – Argentiera DOC Bolgheri Superiore 2011.

Candice added:

“Here at Delifonseca, we pride ourselves on serving top quality products both from across the globe and locally sourced in our restaurants and at our food hall.

“We host a monthly wine tasting night at our city centre venue Fonseca’s which have previously included South African, Greek and American wine nights to name a few. We look forward to continuing the journey as we sip our way around the world of wine with both new and familiar faces.”

The Tenuta Argentiera wine evening will take place at Delifonseca Dockside on Wednesday, October 14 at 7:30pm and is priced at £49 per person. Booking is essential and a non-refundable £10 deposit is required.
