The Concert Room in Liverpool’s iconic St George’s Hall will host Towards the Romantics on Sunday 13 September, the final part of a series of three classical concerts by St George’s Hall’s orchestra-in-residence, L’Orchestra dell’Arte.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has been the central pillar of all three concerts, Towards the Romantics brings the series to a sensational close and will show how Mozart’s legacy was passed on to forthcoming generations, those who took the musical baton from Mozart and developed his classical style and pushed boundaries towards the newer Romantic style. The main work in the final concert is the Symphony No 7 by Beethoven.
The programme will include works by Rossini and Beethoven together with several other excerpts and discussion led by their renowned conductorEdward Peak, who always delights audiences with his tales from the real world inside music and orchestras.
Artistic Director and Conductor of Orchestra dell’ Arte, Edward Peak, was the recipient of this year’s The Wirral Award, a Civic Recognition Award for his outstanding achievement, distinguished service to the borough and life-long services to Music and the Arts; presented to him in March of this year by the Lord Mayor of Wirral Mr Steve Foulkes during a ceremony in Wallasey Town Hall. Edward is well known to audiences from his career with the RLPO as both performer and conductor and more recently as a presenter for Bay TV.
Edward Peak, said:
“It is with enormous pleasure and anticipation that I am looking forward to our second series of concerts at the fantastic St George’s Hall. Support from everyone concerned with our first season has been amazing. Our second series which will be a journey showing how even a great genius needs inspiration from others. Mozart in turn inspired a host of subsequent artistes and changed the musical profile of the world.”
“Following this season, we have already plans in place for the next stage in our musical journey – the composers who built on, added to and improved on Mozart’s lead.”
Audiences will also have the rare opportunity to see and hear a splendid and very famous Vuillaume violin in action during the Beethoven Romance in F to be performed by Andrew Winter (leader of Orchestra dell’Arte).
