Two Liverpool businesses make British LGBT Awards shortlist

DWF Solicitors’ Paul Maddock and Liverpool-based healthy eating brand Fuel Station have both made the shortlist ahead of the British LGBT Awards.

The high profile awards show celebrates the people and organisations who have made a contribution to the lesbian, gay and bisexual community. It will take place at London’s Landmark Hotel on 24 April.

Solicitor Paul Maddock has been nominated in the Diversity Champion of the Year category.  Paul founded DWF’s LGBT employee network, OutFront and reviewed the firms HR policies to help champion LGBT needs. He has also written numerous articles on diversity.

Meanwhile, Liverpool-based Fuel Station, a healthy eating brand founded by former Apprentice candidate Kurt Wilson, has been shortlisted for Brand of the Year. The company is hugely popular with Britain’s LGBT community after supporting various Pride festivals and providing diets to gay celebrities including ‘Only Way is Essex’ star Charlie King.

Dubbed Britain’s ‘gay Oscars’, the awards ceremony sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland, will honour both corporate and celebrity names. Former Spice Girl Mel C and broadcaster Paul O’Grady are also shortlisted for awards at the event which will be hosted by Coronation Street actor Charlie Condou.

Awards organiser, Sarah Garrett said:

“The British LGBT awards highlight the very best in established and emerging British LGBT talent as well as shine a light on the fantastic work of some of our most high profile straight allies across the globe. It is great that Liverpool is proudly represented with award nominees for Paul Maddock and Fuel Station. I hope the People of Liverpool get behind them at cast their votes online.”

Fuel Station’s Kurt Wilson said:

“I am incredibly proud that the gay community has shortlisted Fuel Station for this amazing award. It would be a real honour for us to win.”
