UK Government offers funding for businesses in technology

The UK government is offering opportunities and innovation support for businesses to allow them to explore the feasibility of enabling new technologies.

The fund from Innovate UK is designed with small and micro-businesses in mind, designed to help determine the feasibility of developing new products and services for enabling technologies.

The investment will be £2 million in the form of a feasibility studies competition, encouraging innovation in four areas:

  • advanced materials
  • biosciences
  • electronics, sensors and photonics
  • information and communications (ICT)

Innovate UK said:

“We want ideas that will lead to genuinely new products and services, with real commercial potential.”

The competition will be open to any small businesses with an innovative idea in the above areas, with winning projects able to attract up to 75% of the costs of carrying out a feasibility study (with total project costs of up to £33,000).

The deadline for registration is 14 January 2015.
