Wirral Met to host free business innovation event for local employers

Business leaders and entrepreneurs from the Liverpool City Region are to appear at an event that highlight recruitment opportunities for local employers. Tony McDonough reports.

Event will be the first opportunity for employers to meet new Principal and CEO of Wirral Met College, Gill Banks

Wirral Met College is hosting the event to outline new Principal and CEO, Gill Banks’ vision to work more closely with and develop support for local employers.

Representatives from the Liverpool City Region Business & Enterprise Board, and Hartree National Centre for Digital Innovation, will join the programme to deliver talks to employers.

Ruth Hartnoll, who was announced as deputy chair of the board earlier this month, will outline opportunities to engage with the Combined Authority and how new relationships with employers across the region can help influence the support provided in the future.

And Louis Rowland, business development executive with Hartree National Centre for Digital Innovation, part of the Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, will explain how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to enhance business operations.

Earlier this year, the Government launched an AI programme, advising UK businesses on the application of technology to reduce inefficiency, improve productivity and turbo-charge growth.

The session, which takes place at Wirral Met College’s Hamilton Campus on Thursday 7 September, will also provide information on financial support available for apprenticeships.

Earlier this year, Wirral University Teaching Hospital, in partnership with Wirral Met College, launched the innovative ‘100 Apprenticeship Pledges in 100 Days’ scheme.

It aims to provide access to jobs and careers to people from the local community, whilst supporting employers with employee development and recruitment to facilitate growth.
