Argyle Taxis and Wirral Satellite Cars have combined to form Argyle Satellite

Two of Wirral’s best-know private hire taxi firms – Argyle Taxis and Wirral Satellite Cars – have agreed a merger.

The new business, Argyle Satellite, will have a combined fleet of more than 600 vehicles with plans to grow this to 800 within the next 18 months.

Areas currently covered include Birkenhead, Tranmere, Oxton, Arrowe Park, New Brighton, West Kirby, Heswall and Wallasey.

The next step will be to open an office in Eastham to service and expand in the south Wirral area, including Bromborough, Sutton, Neston, Cheshire Oaks and Ellesmere Port.

Argyle Satellite also has a number of contracts – which sees them deliver services to companies and hospitals.

Having such a larger fleet means they business is better equipped to service the demands of large-scale requirements, with the aim to increase this reach further.

Plans are also in place to further develop on the existing academy, which will deliver training for existing drivers as well as supporting the recruitment and training of new drivers in house.

Chris Jordan, director at Argyle Satellite, and former chairman of Wirral Satellite Cars, said: “In Argyle Taxis we have found a partner, which shares a similar vision and ambition to provide Wirral with the best local knowledge and customer service we possibly can.

“We are excited about our combined strengths as we work together to establish a taxi firm of choice for residents, businesses and visitors across Wirral.”

The former Argyle Taxis headquarters in Birkenhead will be the home of the new call centre for Argyle Satellite, and the Wirral Satellite headquarters will become the training academy and admin office.

The existing Wirral Satellite office in West Kirby will remain open, while a new Argyle Satellite office will be opened in Eastham to serve south Wirral.
