Yacht Club Outside secures ‘giant’ Liverpool event

After a fantastic series of contract wins, Adam Franklin is gearing up for his biggest event yet, as Yacht Club Outside will be the official caterer for the Giant Spectacular: Memories of August 1914.

The Liverpool-based firm, which is led by the renowned chef proprietor, will be providing the catering for two exclusive events which will give business people in the city the opportunity to get up close and personal with the giants themselves.

Giant Spectacular

Following 2012’s massively successful Sea Odyssey (pictured above) in which 800,000 people watched three giants take over the streets of Liverpool, the world’s leading street theatre production company, Royal de Luxe, is back with another jaw-dropping performance.

This year’s event will take place between Wednesday July 23 and Sunday July 27 and will mark the centenary of the start of the First World War – a turning point in world history. In collaboration with 14-18 NOW, Liverpool will host a landmark commemorative event – a poignant and spectacular piece of street theatre which will once again see giant visitors embark on an emotional journey around the city.

Adam Franklin, chef proprietor of Yacht Club Outside, said:

“Quite frankly, this is the highlight of my career. I stood in awe two years ago watching Sea Odyssey and it was so incredible I vividly remember the hairs standing up on the back of my neck.

“My team and I are passionate about showcasing all that Liverpool has to offer to local people. So as soon as we found out that Royal de Luxe was coming back to the city and Culture Liverpool was organ- ising these exclusive corporate hospitality events, we had to get involved, in any way shape or form.

“We are incredibly excited about providing guests with our distinctive brand of unashamed comfort food and giving them a food experience they will never forget at an event we will never forget.”

Lesley Beattie, head of commercial and visitor economy at Liverpool City Council, said:

“Adam’s passion about the city is palpable and his torrent of creativity has been really exciting to be a part of.

“Not only will his food be delicious, but we also know that it will be locally sourced and identified wherever possible which is very important to us.

“He offered his services from the very beginning and has been a delight to work with and we know he will ensure these events become the most talked about ‘must attend’ corporate hospitality events in the city.”

Yacht Club Outside will be will be creating a spectacular and imaginative fine dining experience in the beautiful surroundings of the Golden Concert Room in St George’s Hall on Wednesday July 24 which guests will attend after receiving an exclusive Up Close and Personal preview to the Grandmother Giant.

Adam and his team will then return the next morning to wow corporate guests with a Champagne breakfast in the splendour of the Great Hall in St George’s.
