Liverpool IT support company Halcyon Networks is giving its support to two community organisations.

Halcyon is supporting the Jamie Carragher Academy, set up by the former Liverpool FC defender who is now a Sky Sports pundit, which offers vocational qualifications in sport, and Nexus CIC which uses sport to engage disadvantaged young people.

Company directors James Hamilton and Lauren Yates has been partnering with Jamie Carragher Academy for several months, providing communications and IT services in a business capacity but also helping with the community aspects of the project.

James said: “We want to give back and with the academy being based on Marsh Lane and in the area we are from and the focus being more on the youth as opposed to financing it was the organisation we wanted to work with

“Then seeing what they are doing within the communities it is something we are desperate to assist with.”

Jamie Carragher Academy offers North West school-leavers aged 16 to 19 the opportunity to study for BTEC Level 2 & Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport. It is aimed at those who wish to combine progression in football, either playing or coaching.

Nexus (NW) is a focal point for young people from some of the most disadvantaged communities in the country. All projects delivered by Nexus use sport as the catalyst to transition young people into youth engagement opportunities.
