A family-run hospitality business is to open its first venue in Merseyside as it invests £2.5m to convert a 17th century manor into a new gastropub.

Nelson Hotels & Inns already runs four hotels, inns and restaurants across Cheshire. Its fifth offering will be based at the former The Manor Greasby in Wirral. Now called The Manor at Greasby, the gastropub will accommodate up to 160 diners.

The previous restaurant business at the site, called The Manor Greasby, closed early in 2020. This latest venture will see the creation of 60 jobs. It will also include a wedding barn for celebrations of up to 80 guests.

The Nelson group already owns and operates The Pheasant Inn at Burwardsley, The Fishpool Inn at Delamere, The Bear’s Paw in Warmingham and the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa at Pulford just outside Chester.

The Manor at Greasby menu will focus on a “marriage of traditional British gastropub fayre and refined inspiration from European cuisine”. It will offer a daily-changing menu to incorporate local and seasonal produce. Menu items will include British gastropub staples to the Nelson family’s famous handcrafted pies and oven-fired artisan pizzas.
