Jet2 has been named European Airline of the Year at the Airline Economics Aviation 100 Awards.

Leeds-based Jet2, the The UK’s third largest airline, was presented with the award at a gala dinner during Airline Economics’ Growth Frontiers Conference in London.

Jet2 is set to help Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) break through the 5m passengers a year barrier for the first time in several years.

In March this year, Jet2 and Jet2Holidays took off from LJLA for the first time ever with 20 summer destinations across Europe. The Leeds-based carrier is also offering a programme of winter destinations from this autumn.

In late August the company announced an expanded programme for winter 2025 with the launch of a programme of mini-breaks to Vienna, Krakow and Prague, all famed for their Christmas markets.

The Airline Economics Aviation 100 awards celebrate the best companies, individuals and transactions in European aviation finance. They are based on the responses of readers.
