John Haynes Foundation has organised a Vegas-themed fundraising lunch

Liverpool’s John Haynes Foundation is promising “an unforgettable afternoon of glitz, glamour and giving” at a Vegas-themed fundraising lunch in the city centre.

The John Haynes Foundation is named after John Haynes, something of a legend in the local business world. He set up the Liverpool Coaching Academy which inspired a generation of entrepreneurs in Merseyside and farther afield.

John died in December 2020 and in 2021 a number of Liverpool city region business people decided to set up the John Haynes Foundation with the aim of continuing his work and “transforming 1m lives”.

Since it was founded the foundation has set up multiple programmes to support young students, young carers, children in care, and those working with fellow grassroots charities across Liverpool city region.

Taking place on Friday, September 19, the fundraising lunch is being held at the Clubhouse in Wolstenholme Square. It will start at 1pm with “dazzling Showgirls, thrilling casino tables and a sparkling welcome drink in hand”.

This is followed by lunch serenaded by Rat Pack classics and show-stopping tunes. There will also be a celebration of the foundation’s Young Eagle and Eagle of the Year Awards and shared stories of impact.

At 5pm Fire Eaters and Stilt Walkers lead the way to the after party at Dicey Reilly’s with live beats from our DJ and saxophonist.

The foundation said: “At The John Haynes Foundation, the belief is simple yet powerful – every young person, regardless of background, deserves the opportunity to thrive.

“As a charitable foundation committed to coaching, mentoring, and continuing the legacy of John Haynes, their work reaches some of the most underserved individuals in communities across Liverpool city region.

“The Foundation’s fundraising efforts are not simply about sustaining programmes, they are about sustaining potential. The young people they serve face real adversity. Through tailored support, these individuals begin to see what is possible, even in the face of challenge.

“They build the strength to persevere, the tools to communicate and connect, and the confidence to shape their own futures.

“The Foundation does more than mentor and coach, it cultivates social intelligence and emotional strength that supports young people through college, work, and life. Its programmes deliver more than outcomes; they inspire transformation.”

Through personalised coaching and group mentoring, the foundation equips participants with practical tools to:

  • Recognise and regulate emotions in themselves and others.
  • Interpret social cues and adapt communication styles appropriately.
  • Collaborate respectfully across diverse contexts.
  • Make confident, values-aligned decisions in social settings.
