M&Y Maintenance and Construction will tackle damp and mould at homes across the North West and North Wales after securing a place on a £100m framework.

A division of Liverpool affordable housing group Regenda, M&Y is now on the Procurement Hub Damp and Mould Framework. Backed by the Government the four-year framework is run by Procurement Hub.

It has been developed in response to the increasing demand around improving damp and mould conditions in social housing, particularly with the upcoming introduction of Awaab’s Law in October 2025.

This legislation sets a new legal obligation on housing providers to address damp and mould reports in an effective and timely manner. It was introduced following the death of two-year-old Awaab Ishak who died in Rochdale in 2020 amid poor housing conditions.

Kevin Moses, director of operations at M&Y, said: “Being appointed to this framework gives us the support we need to tackle damp and mould issues head-on, ensuring homes are safe, healthy and compliant with the upcoming changes under Awaab’s Law.

“The appointment is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and expertise of our team, who consistently go above and beyond to deliver high-quality services.

“It’s a proud moment for M&Y and an endorsement of our commitment to improving lives and communities through safe, sustainable housing.”

Last week LBN reported how M&Y had completed the construction of 34 of 70 new homes at New Ferry in Wirral for Regenda. The first tenants have now moved into the homes in the area which was hit by a devastating gas explosion in March 2017.
