Southport to host two-day music festival
A two-day festival of ‘music and family fun’ is set to take over Southport town centre in mid-September. Tony McDonough reports

Southport’s first Coastal Jam festival is promising two days of “music and family fun” in September.
Taking place on Saturday, September 13, and Sunday 14, Coastal Jam will see stages built at the Town Hall Gardens and Market Street. There will also be performances at bars and venues across the town centre.
Artists performing will include Kyle Shaw, Lucy Starr, Coopers Jazz Band and Clockwork Gibbons alongside a record fair, stalls, street performers, and activities at Southport Market.
Roaming brass band Sticky Lips will bring the party, taking their unique brand of high energy bouncing brass for a spin around the town centre on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday there will be a “spectacular stage show” at Town Hall Gardens, taking place between 11am and 6pm. It will begin with family-friendly performances. CBBC stars Andy and The Odd Socks will kick off proceedings with a high-energy
performance, before Mosh Tots entertain tiny rebels and mini moshers. A line-up of bands and performers will then take to the stage throughout the afternoon. They will include bombastic 6-piece collective Kiki Music Collective, 80s specialists Hello
Felix, and local rockers Frank Flight Band. At Town Hall Gardens there will be food and drink from local traders as well as activity stalls.
The Atkinson is also extending its opening hours to be part of the Sunday fun, offering craft workshops and family activities for visitors to take part in throughout the day.
