Fried chicken giant KFC creates 40 jobs in a new Wirral outlet that opens for the first time this weekend. Tony McDonough reports
KFC’s latest Merseyside outlet opens this weekend in an investment that sees the creation of 40 jobs.
Opening in Moreton town centre in Wirral on Saturday, September 20, the new restaurant will offer 46 seats for diners and six quick-order kiosks for takeaway customers. There will also be on-site parking and a dedicated waiting area for delivery drivers.
Its team will comprise team member, team leader and management roles and there are still vacancies available. Click on to the KFC careers page. KFC’s food donation programme will redistribute surplus food to local people in need via FareShare.
Tom Reid, senior acquisition manager at KFC UK & Ireland, said: “Wirral has always had a strong KFC fanbase, so we’re thrilled to be opening our doors in Moreton.
“We’re expanding right across the UK, and this opening is an exciting step for us here in the North West. With a talented new team ready to go, we can’t wait to welcome our first customers very soon.”
KFC Moreton joins 10 other KFC restaurants across Merseyside. The opening forms part of the company’s £1.5bn investment plan for the UK and Ireland over the next five years – a commitment announced as part of its 60-year anniversary celebrations.
This investment will see 500 new restaurants over the next decade, and more than 7,000 jobs created across the business and its supply chain.

Gastronomy Restaurants will operate the new Moreton outlet. Since opening its first restaurant in Aberystwyth in 2007, the franchisee has grown to 44 restaurants across Wales, the Midlands, the North West and Shropshire.
Alex Jones, area coach at Gastronomy, added: “We’ve got big plans to bring KFC to more people around the country, and Moreton is the perfect next move for us. Our team has gone above and beyond to create a restaurant customers will love, and we’re looking forward to being part of the Moreton community.”
