Livv Housing Group has built 20 social rent homes in Kirkby

 

Livv Housing Group has built 20 social rent homes in Kirkby in a £2.6m development.

Its Mossborough Drive project has transformed the site of the former Farmers Arms pub into 20 energy-efficient cottage-style apartments for social rent, which can typically mean around 50% of local market rate.

Livv told LBN that social rent based on a formula set by Government. This creates a ‘formula rent’ for each property, which is calculated based on the relative value of the property, relative local income levels, and the size of the property.

Set within two L-shaped buildings arranged around a central courtyard, the scheme comprises four one-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom apartments over two floors. Each apartment has its own front door at street level and dedicated parking.

It is located in the Tower Hill area of Kirkby, the homes – on Mossborough Drive and Moorfield.  This is Livv’s first new build scheme for social rent in Knowsley. First tenants are expected to move in over the coming weeks.

Each home is fully electric with an air source heat pump

 

Each apartment is fully electric and fitted with an air source heat pump. The use of enhanced wall and roof insulation also improves overall energy efficiency.

This development was delivered in partnership with Liverpool-based contractor, Built Group, with grant funding support from Homes England.

David Belcher, director at Built Group, added: “These new homes have been built with sustainability and quality at their core and will make a real and lasting impact on this area of Kirkby.”
