Coffee shop franchise Costa, is to open a new store in Church Square Shopping Centre St Helens, generating up to ten jobs.

The new, medium-sized outlet will offer a continental outdoors seating arrangement and cater for up to 75 customers.

Situated on the corner of Church Street in St Mary’s Arcade, it will be taking over from what was previously Coverdale Soft Furnishings store, which closed down last year.

Church Square Shopping Centre manager, Steven Brogan, said:

“Costa has been looking for a site in the centre of St Helens for some time and it’s great that the company has chosen this prime site for its new café.”

“I think it will bring a whole new feel to this part of the square and to Church Street, and will help regenerate the town centre. We are working hard to attract new and well-known names to the shopping centre, with the investment we’ve carried out over the last year, and we hope to make more positive announcements in the coming months.”

“Our research shows that many shoppers like to stop off for a coffee and a bite to eat, or get something to take away.”
