Roja Pinchos, the first pinchos bar to arrive in the north of England, last night (Thursday 25th June) launched Abajo – an exclusive basement gin and cava bar offering Liverpool’s largest selection of cava.

Abajo – Spanish for ‘below’, held an official launch event that saw city celebrities and key movers and shakers attend.

Situated in the heart of the city centre on Berry Street, the bar is set to become the perfect place to enjoy gin, cava and cocktails with friends.

Abajo has taken inspiration from the cocktail and cava bars synonymous with the beautiful city of Barcelona. It will offer an array of cava brands including the hot Catalan favourite Codorníu.

The Director of Abajo, Edward Ridding, believes the concept will be something the city hasn’t experienced before.

He said:

“The vision for Abajo has grown naturally following the success we have enjoyed at Roja Pinchos. We are overwhelmed by the love Liverpool has shown for our Spanish concept.

“I have toured bars across Barcelona for the past couple of years, trying to find the right elements for Abajo. We wanted to create a relaxed setting where friends and couples can enjoy gin, cava and cocktails before heading off for late night drinks in town. The bar reflects the cool vibe synonymous with the great Spanish city.”
