It was an early start for rock band Lawson today after their Stoke-on-Trent yesterday evening. The lads visited the breakfast crew at the new Capital Liverpool studio this morning to discuss their new single, Money.

The single, available on iTunes today, is the latest single to be released from the band’s forthcoming second album, which the boys have spent the last six months promoting, touring the UK, US and Australia. But lead singer, local lad Andy Brown admitted he missed Liverpool, saying:

“I don’t get to come back to Liverpool that much. I was here this weekend. If there’s a Liverpool game on, I try and get to the match, I went again this weekend. I was then in Alma De Cuba on Saturday night. I don’t get back as much as I’d like as I live down in London now. I miss it.”

The lads added:

“We will definitely be playing in Liverpool again soon. We will have another single out after Money, then we will do the album in the summertime and will be back on the road touring after that. Liverpool is always one of the first on the list so we will definitely be back.”

The boys also answered questions on just why it was they changed their name, having previously performed as The Groves.

Andy Brown said:

“The name Lawson came about after a surgeon from Liverpool, Dr Lawson, operated on me around eight years ago now at The Walton Centre for Neurology. I had a brain tumour, Dr Lawson took it out and we named the band after him.

“I haven’t seen him in ages, but he did come to our show at The Echo arena when we headlined there and he came on stage. He was loving it.”
