City centre-based gallery/shop/studio organisation has released dates for its 10-week evening courses and one-day workshops. Andrew Wright reports.

Liverpool art gallery and studio dot-art is offering budding artists and photographers a series of evening courses starting early in the New Year.

The gallery/shop/studio organisation, which supports local artists, is teaming up with Bluecoat and Hope Street in Liverpool city centre, as well continuing its partnership with Sefton Park Palmhouse, to offer the courses in a range of disciplines, including drawing, painting and photography.

February marks the start of the evening classes at Bluecoat, which will be hosting the 10-week courses in Life Drawing, Beginners Painting (acrylics) and Jewellery Making in Metal.

New this year is the Sunday Introduction to Portrait Drawing session, hosted by artist Kathy Dereli. The Beginners Digital Photography day comes next in March.

Hope Street will be again be hosting Richard Meaghan’s 10-week evening course in Intermediate Painting (Oils), designed for those with painting experience, or as a follow on to his Beginners Painting course, as well as Sculpture for Beginners with professional sculptor Faith Bebbington.

Over in South Liverpool, the series of Sketching in the Palm House events continues at Sefton Park Palm House in February and April in addition to a 10 Week Drawing in the Palm House evening course led by award winning artist Josie Jenkins.

Rachel Brewster leads Beginners Photowalk, which will guide participants around the Palm House and its surroundings, giving tips and tricks on how to get the best from film, digital and smartphone cameras.
