Almost 100,000 people have visited the children’s attraction Mattel Play! Liverpool in its first year – far exceeding expectations.
Based at the Albert Dock and employing 20 people, Mattel Play! Liverpool features three themed zones based on iconic children’s favourites Thomas and Friends, Bob the Builder and Fireman Sam.
When it opened a year ago, the attraction’s owner Heritage Brand Ventures projected visitor number of around 80,000 for the first year.
And to celebrate the family entertainment centre’s first birthday children from across Merseyside joined The Fat Controller for a special birthday celebration.
During the event the competition winners also had the opportunity to meet Bob the Builder and Fireman Sam.
Guests enjoyed party food and entertainment before helping to blow out the candles on a giant birthday cake.
Alan Kendall, development manager at Heritage Brand Ventures, said: “It’s been a really encouraging first year and great to see our young visitors having so much fun at Mattel Play! Liverpool over the past year.
“We’d like to thank all of the families who have visited the attraction and supported us.
“The journey has been phenomenal and we’re looking forward to welcoming many more guests as the attraction continues to thrive.”
Each zone, which has its own individual look and feel, is filled with activities designed to allow children to experience what it’s like to play alongside their favourite characters.
The Avenue also has a dedicated café, gift shop, party rooms and a green screen.
