Waterfront venue will host the the International Orthoptic Association conference in 2020, welcoming 1,000 delegates, and the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology event in the same year. Tony McDonough reports
ACC Liverpool has secured two new major medical conferences that will take place at the waterfront venue in 2020.
They add to a pipeline of conferences and conventions over the next two years which it is estimated will benefit the city centre economy to the tune of £15m
ACC, which comprises the Echo Arena, BT Convention Centre and Exhibition Centre Liverpool – as well as the Pullman Hotel – will host the International Orthoptic Association conference in June 2020, welcoming 1,000 delegates over four days.
And, the annual meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology will take place in the same year, attracting 3,500 delegates over three days.
ACC Liverpool recently hosted 1,500 attendees at the European Week of Astronomy and Space Science while forthcoming international congresses include Uni Global Union World Congress in June and Health Systems Research in October.
Professor Mehul Dattani, head of paediatric endocrinology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, University College London Hospitals and the Institute of Child Health, is ambassador for the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology.
He said: “Our annual conference gives our delegates the opportunity to exchange high quality clinical and scientific information with international experts at plenary sessions, symposia, and meet-the-expert sessions.
“The conference also enables local delegates to present their latest ground-breaking research to their peers, and provides great opportunities for informal networking.
“As an ambassador for this event, we are confident that visitors will be impressed with the venue and will appreciate exploring such a vibrant, interesting city, as well as engaging in social events during the three days of the meeting.”
