More than £4,000 has been raised for two charities after a team from Liverpool’s business community completed the Three Peaks Challenge in memory of John Sutcliffe.

John was founder of Liverpool civil engineering business Sutcliffe and was one of the best-known figures on the local business scene. He died in January 2017 aged 67.

After launching the business in 1985 he helped it grow into a national business and worked on some of Liverpool’s biggest building projects. He was also chairman of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.

Sutcliffe joined forces with another Liverpool firm, Kingsley to put together a team of people to take on the Three Peaks Challenge – climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden in 24 hours – with a target of raising £3,600 for MacMillan and Cancer Research.

That target was smashed with a total of £4,338 from 145 donors raised for the charities.

The team, which also included representatives from other firms including Project Four and  Nationwide Management Services, comprised Sean Keyes, William Baldwin, Christopher Baldwin, Michael Greensmith, Javier Gonzalez, Kelly Davies, Louise Westhoff, Simon Boekweit-Hughes, Caroline Kingsley, Jennifer Bailey, Kelly Maddocks, Alan Robson, Max Meadows, James Battle and Lee Stanley.
